Junior Festival / CSLC Hamilton / Div II

JUNIOR FESTIVAL ROTORUA

The first away meet for 2017 was Junior Festival in Rotorua. We took a large team of 17 on what was my first away team with the Juniors in many years, and what fun we had! The team looked awesome in our blue and white shirts along with all our mums helping out. And the positive energy became infectious with some huge pbs right across the three days of racing. At this younger age building the love of sport and demonstrating strong basics is critical and we definitely ticked those boxes this meet.

CENTRAL SWIMMING LONG COURSE CHAMPS HAMILTON

Next up was Central Swimming LC the following weekend in Hamilton. There we had the largest team attending, particularly impressive when the meet was based in Waikato. For us to front up with more numbers than the large Waikato, BOP, Taranaki teams showed that same momentum we have in the Juniors. Credit to the Seniors for such great behaviour and superb swimming for the entire meet. Any time you are away with nearly 30 teenagers and having it run as smoothly as it did…speaks volumes to the kids, parents at home and culture we have established. Special mention to Sue Hewitt and HBPB swimming. A large funding application allowed us to stay in huge numbers as a region right across the road from the pool. Turning what could be a very stressful meet logistically into one that was much easier and enjoyable for all!

DIV II

Sidney, Millie and Olivia Lee went on to represent our team with some awesome success at Div 2 in Rotorua a few weeks later, Sid grabbing a couple medals and her first ever NAGS qualifying time being the highlights.
